Under the NHTSA New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), the 2021 Ford Transit Connect achieved an Overall Safety Rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
The Overall Vehicle Score synthesizes laboratory crash barrier performance across frontal collision, side impact, and static rollover evaluations.
In laboratory testing, the 2021 Ford Transit Connect scored 4★ for Frontal Barrier Crash (35 mph head-on impact) and 5★ for Side Crash (barrier and pole impacts).
Frontal crash ratings evaluate head, neck, chest, and leg injury protection compared to vehicles of similar weight; side ratings evaluate barrier intersection impact and telephone pole intrusion.
NHTSA rates the 2021 Ford Transit Connect at 4★ for Rollover Resistance, with a calculated rollover probability of 17.9%.
Rollover resistance is determined by the vehicle's Static Stability Factor (track width divided by twice the center-of-gravity height) and dynamic steering maneuver performance.
NHTSA NCAP records evaluate recommended crash avoidance technologies including Forward Collision Warning (Verified/Equipped), Lane Departure Warning (Verified/Equipped), and Crash Imminent Braking (Not Standard).
NHTSA evaluates whether crash avoidance systems meet federal performance specifications on test tracks.
Crash test star ratings and driver assistance evaluations on this page are published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).
